LaVonne Greiner Obituary

LaVonne J. Greiner, age 87, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully on July 23 , 2021 surrounded by her loving family and special sister, Dottie.  LaVonne was born in the town of Freedom May 23, 1934 sharing her birthday with her loving husband, Ron (Hump) Greiner.  LaVonne is the daughter of the late Anna (Jansen) and Ignatius Murphy.  She and Ron were married on August 25, 1954 at St. Nicholas Church.  They spent 66 wonderful years together.

LaVonne worked as a waitress at various restaurants where she loved serving and socializing with the many customers.  In her younger years, she created many memories and lasting friendships through the Women’s Bowling League.  LaVonne was a devoted, compassionate and loving mother and grandmother who was there for her family whenever they needed her.  She had a special bond and love for her grandchildren and was known to bake her delicious carrot cake for many birthdays.  LaVonne always made sure her “candy drawer” was full of special treats for anyone that came to visit...not only the kids.  She was especially proud of her grandchildren and attended every activity of theirs that she could.  We will always remember her warm smile and special hugs.

LaVonne is survived by her husband, Ron and children Cindy (John) VanDenBerg, Joe (Mary) Greiner, Cathy (Jerry) Kempen and Peggy (Joe) Huss; grandchildren Jamie (Jon Berger), Jackie Chance, Jeri (Jay) Eastman, Dana (Bret) Reader, Eric Greiner, Jordan, McKenzie and Hunter Kempen, Cassandra (Trevor) Howard, Trevor Huss (Kelsey Stone), Kayla (Ellis) Brooks; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.  She is further survived by a sister and very special friend, Dorothy (Dottie) Schroeder and a brother, Tom (Debbie) Murphy; two brother-in-laws, Bob (Beaver) Vionne Greiner, Jim (Sharon) Greiner and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Ignatius Murphy, mother and father in law Carl (Frances) Greiner, and brother/sister in laws; Glenn Schroeder, Dorothy (Bill) Gonnering, Carl (Rosie) Greiner, Bill (Ila) Greiner.
