Kathleen J. “Katie” DeWitt

Katie J. DeWitt, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 5, 2022. She was born on April 8, 1931, daughter of the late John and Martina (Wildenberg) Evers. She married Peter DeWitt on August 19, 1953.

Katie worked at the St. Paul Home for over 30 years and was a long time member of St. Al’s Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Katie loved people and being social. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Katie is survived by her children: Sharon (Dan) Engels, Lynn (Bob) Otte and Tina (Al) Hietpas; grandchildren: Brent (Bri) Belongea, Kristy Eisenschink, Miranda (Cory) Loomis, Chelsea (Brianna) Reese, Mike (Robyn) Hietpas and Dana (Phil) Schreiber; great grandchildren: Adelyn and Easton Belongea, Dylan Eisenschink, Adilyn, Rosalie, Sylar and Fable Loomis, Nora Weber, Hollis Reese, Ellie Hietpas, Brayden and Kaitlyn Schreiber; sister, Theresa Evers; sister-in-law, Sharyl Evers; Godchildren: Margaret, Debbie, Barb, Mark, Kay, Mike and Jeff; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Peter DeWitt; parents, John and Martina Evers; siblings: Frank (Rosie) Evers, Eileen (Bob) Parmenter, Marge (Steward) Fuzzard, Joan (Darwin) Schmaltz, Marv (Bernice) Evers, Clete (Jan) Evers and Jim Evers; in-laws: Albert (Abigail), John (Marge), Willy (Bernice) and Joe (Eileen) DeWitt and Delia (Ralph) Gries.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish-St. Mary Site, 119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will benefit St. Mary Catholic Church.
