Kathleen "Kathy" Schumacher Obituary
Kathleen "Kathy" Ann (Gwiazdon) Schumacher, age 81, was called home to the loving arms of God on June 7, 2026. Kathy was born on March 23, 1945, in Stanley, Wisconsin. She was a woman deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and lived her life guided by God's love and grace.
On April 16, 1966, Kathy married the love of her life, Robert Schumacher, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp, Wisconsin. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. They made their home in Black Creek, Wisconsin, where they built a house on 36 acres of farmland and created a hobby farm. Kathy took great joy in raising animals and caring for her family. She was proud to be a homemaker, though she also worked a short time as a delivery driver and, in her younger years, as a waitress.
Kathy found happiness in gardening, reading, sewing, biking, and traveling. She was especially passionate about researching her family heritage and enjoyed learning about and preserving her family's history.
A dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek, Kathy generously shared her time and talents with her parish community. She taught CCD classes for many years, sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, coordinated RCIA, and beautified the church with her lovely flowers. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she maintained a close and loving relationship with God. No matter the occasion, Kathy always had a prayer.
Kathy is lovingly survived by her husband, Robert Schumacher; her four children, Tracy Schumacher, Shelley Schumacher, Keith Schumacher (Jana Stanek), and Angela Schumacher; her six grandchildren, Justin Schumacher, Emily Hirte, Dereck Kleuskens, Courtney Kleuskens, Nicholas Schumacher, and Hayden Schumacher. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her siblings, Francis (Deb) Gwiazdon, Tim Gwiazdon, Mariette Grimes, and Paula (Roy) Licht; her sister-in-law, Joyce Schumacher; her brother-in-law, David (Pam) Schumacher; her sister-in-law, Linda Spangler; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Gwiazdon; her brother, Lambert Gwiazdon; her father-in-law, Robert Schumacher; her mother-in-law, Margaret Schumacher; her brother-in-law, Joe Schumacher; her sister-in-law, Marcia Schumacher; her brother-in-law, David Grimes; and her brother-in-law, Loren Spangler.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathy's life on Friday, June 12, 2026, with visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 301 E. Burdick Street, Black Creek, WI. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Kathy's faith, kindness, and love for her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
