Kathleen "Kathy" Janssen Obituary

Kathy M. (Kuhn) Janssen, age 75, of Freedom, passed away after a short battle with cancer with her family by her side. She was born in October of 1950 to Rose and Henry Kuhn, their 3rd daughter, in Little Chute, WI. She graduated from St. John’s High School.

In January of 1969, Kathy met her husband John “Jack” Janssen while she was a waitress at a coffee shop in Little Chute. They were married in August of 1970 and had two daughters. Kathy enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time up north with her family. Kathy was always crocheting and cross-stitching. It was a blessing to have many of her home-made treasures. She also made mittens, hats and scarfs to donate.

After John’s passing, Kathy still enjoyed going up north and spending time with her bet girlfriends and family members. She loved remodeling projects and had done most of them herself. When she got it in her mind to change something, it most likely happened.

Kathy is survived by her daughters: Michelle (Keith) Allen and Jacquelen (Steve) Rouse; grandchildren: Mandi, Connor, Evan and Ryan; great-granddaughter, Harper; sister, Marilyn Kuhtz; brother, Steve Kuhn; sisters-in-law: Sue (Jesse) Zuniga and Darlene White; brother-in-law, Larry Janssen; her best girlfriends of over 60 years: Cher, Trish, Linda and Donna; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Henry and Rose Kuhn; father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Catherine Janssen and Catherine’s second love, Dick Verfurth; sisters: Mary Kohl, Margie Cotter, Patty Sonkowsky and Doris Kuhn; brothers-in-law: Jim Cotter, Dan White, Roy “Butch” Kuhtz and Jim Janssen; sister-in-law, Ellen Vandenberg.

Michelle and Jacki would like to thank Kathy’s neighbors for always helping her out. Thank you to Wendy and Brian, Heather and Larry and their children, Larry and Nick. We appreciate how you all helped with our mom.

The complete family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at ThedaCare in the oncology department for making her comfortable and taking care of our mom to the end.

Per Kathy’s wishes, no services will be held.
