Karlyn Therrien Obituary

Karlyn (Kit) Therrien, age 84, passed away peacefully at Appleton Retirement Community on Tuesday January 20, with family by her side.  Kit was born on September 15, 1941 to Joseph and Marcella (Koerner) VanDaalwyk.  She graduated from Kaukauna High School and went on to become an airline stewardess. During her training she met the love of her life. On August 30, 1961 Kit married her soul mate Henry “Hank” Therrien and together they created, owned and operated Therrien Insurance Agency. 

 Her youthful family, and extended family referred to her affectionately as, Aunt Good Shit Kit!!                         Present for all life’s moments whether it be, Birthdays, Sporting events, Holidays, or casual time together, she had a knack of making any moment feel special for all! 

Her radiant spirit lit up the room every time she walked in! Her legendary kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was truly one of a kind! Her cherished life lessons, huge heart, and abundant love have left an imprint on all blessed to know her. We Love, and Thank you for showing us how beautiful the world is with love, compassion, and family first!! 

Kit is survived by her daughter Michelle (Tony) Kalies and their children Karly and Tyler Kaukauna.  Son Frederick (Kim) and their children Ceanne and Isaac, Seymour. Daughter-in-law Catherine Therrien and children Al and Claire (Alex) and great grandson Grant. Three brothers Patrick (Janet) VanDaalwyk Union Grove, Roger (Elaine) VanDaalwyk, Townsend, Paul (Lori) VanDaalwyk, Kaukauna.  She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Kit was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry Therrien, Kaukauna, son Joseph Therrien, Green Bay, parents Joseph and Marcella Van Daalwyk, Kaukauna, sister Linda Donnermeyer, Pickerel, sister in-law Maureen (McDaniel) VanDaalwyk and infant son Roger VanDaalwyk, Kaukauna, mother and father in-law Frederick and Adrian Therrien, sisters-in-law Marion Therrien and Beatrice (Therrien) Carrier, brothers-in-law Alcide Carrier and David Therrien all of Ontario Canada.

Special heartfelt thanks to Appleton Retirement Community and Moments Hospice.  Your compassion, knowledge and support through this difficult journey was truly appreciated. 

The Funeral Mass for Karlyn will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St Mary Church, 119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna.  Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:00am until the time of the service.
