Joseph M. Weyers, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was born on June 2, 1941, son of Martin and Clair (Schreiber) Weyers. He graduated from Kaukauna High School, class of 1959. Joe served in the Army Armory from 1964-1966. He then married Joan Hamm in Appleton on June 18, 1966. Joe graduated from technical college and started his engineering career at Badger Northland and on to Pierce Manufacturing. In retirement, he worked part time for Bergstrom Automotive as a delivery driver until July of 2021.
Joe spent time watching Nascar, the Packers and Old Westerns. He also loved watching the birds and animals that frequently visited his bird feeder. Joe was a big car enthuisiast who enjoyed cruising in his convertibles. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and bicycle in the summer months. Joe enjoyed reading books when it came time to relax. Monthly he looked forward to lunches with his friends of the Kaukauna Ghost Rods.
Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife Joan; daughter, Stephanie (Vince) Finnianous; son, Joel (Tammy Schadrie) Weyers(Karissa Kopeski); brother, Clarence (Bev) Weyers; brothers-in-law: Glen Gruett, David Bain and family and Harry Francis; nephews: Dan Francis, Tony (Amy) Francis, Mike (Nancy) Francis, Peter (Dawn) Francis, Tom (Michelle) Weyers, Dennis (Mary) Weyers, Todd (Tammy) Hank, Kurt (Dianne) Gruett, Greg (Maria) Gruett and Guy (Brenda) Gruett; nieces: Barb (Dean) Van Eperen, Karen (Rick) Verhagen, Lynn (Mark) Lamers, Lisa Heraly, Lori (George) Schrieber, Gretchen (John) Richards and Leah (Tyler) Mitchell.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Martin “Teenie” and Clair Weyers; brothers: Dan and Benard Weyers; sisters: Helen Francis and Marilyn Bain; sister-in-law, Elaine Weyers; nephew, Scott Francis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home FREEDOM LOCATION, N3972 Columbia Ave. from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
