Joseph Sanderfoot Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Clarence Sanderfoot, Jr, age 85, of Kimberly (formerly Pickerel and Little Chute), passed away on March 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Little Chute on November 26, 1938 to the late Joseph and Rose (Lamers) Sanderfoot.

Joe attended grade school at St. John Catholic School in Little Chute and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army Reserve after high school and was sent to Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington in 1961. It was while he was stationed there that he married the love of his life, Rachel Just, on December 9, 1961. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Joe learned the value of hard work at an early age - a quality that he instilled in all of his children. He worked on the family farm and also helped out at his sister Blanche’s farm. After returning from Washington, he worked at the Kimberly Clark Mill in Kimberly and then for several construction companies before starting his own business, Sanderfoot Construction, which continues to run to this day by his son, Steve. His dedication to the concrete business became part of his identity – something he took immense pride in until the very end.

After semi-retiring, Joe and Rachel moved to Pickerel, Wisconsin in 1991 where Joe was a member of the Lions Club and Snowmobile Club. They also spent many winters in Harlingen, Texas, at Green Bay South, with many friends.

Joe worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boat rides, golfing, ranger rides, polka music, dancing and Miller High Life. He found no greater joy than sharing these activities with family and friends.

Along with his loving wife, Rachel, Joe is survived by his children: Steve (Linda) Sanderfoot, Lori (Keith) Verhagen, Cindy (Todd) Scholz, and Kay (Jay) Wells; grandchildren: Travis Schinke, Emily (Jason) Feagles, Nikki (Brad) Ver Voort, Joe (Adriana) Sanderfoot, Rachel (Jake) Wittman, Anne (Micah) Wittman, Nick Scholz, August (Lexi) Scholz, Matt (Jenny) Wells, Dan (Brooke) Wells; 15 beloved great grandchildren; sister and brother: Joyce Tiedt, Bob (Mary) Sanderfoot; sister-in-law: Audrey Schumann; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many great friends.

In addition to his mother and father, those preceding Joe in death are: his beloved daughter Kris, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ted and LaVerne Just; sisters and brothers-in-law: Blanche (Gordy) Kerrigan, Ceil (Melvin) Weyenberg, Nathan Tiedt, Bob Schumann; and step-father John DeValk.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Countryside Golf Club, W726 Weiler Road, Kaukauna.
