Joan Petrie Obituary

Joan Mary Petrie, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 12, 2024. She was born on December 4, 1932, in Brothertown, WI, daughter of the late Joseph “Sam” and Frieda (Geiser) Goeser. Joan married David Petrie on December 30, 1953, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho.

Joan was an active member of 4-H as a child, and later shared her love of 4-H with her children as an adult leader. She graduated from Chilton High School. Joan was also a member of the Christian Mothers, Sherwood Lioness Club, Darting Needles Quilters Guild, Wisconsin State Horse Council and the Calumet County Riders Club. She was a faithful Catholic and longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish in Sherwood. In addition to raising her children, Joan was also a sewing instructor, bus driver and a waitress. After retirement, Joan and Dave enjoyed traveling in their RV. She loved to spend time with her family above anything else.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Linda (Dave) Olson, Shawano (children: Kyle (Bailey) Olson and Aaron (Amanda) Olson), Joe (Jan) Petrie, Plano, TX (children: Max (Heather) Petrie and Samantha Petrie), Jean (Mark) Landreman, Kaukauna (children: Tammi (Mark) Bartels and Laurie (Dan) Heistad), John (Jenny) Petrie, Chilton (children: Chad (Katie) Petrie, Erica (Nate) Diestelmann, Jacob (Alyssa) Petrie and Jordan (Ally) Petrie), Ted (Brigitte) Petrie, Brillion (children: George (Kaitlin) Petrie, Jed (Corinne) Petrie, Silas (Lianna) Petrie and Cecilia (Wyatt) Hassemer), Dan (Leslie) Petrie, Memphis, TN (children: Anna Petrie (Cody Bryan) and Robert Petrie); 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill (Karen) Goeser, Jackson, WY; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband David Petrie; parents, Joseph and Frieda Goeser; a son, Robert Petrie; sister, Bonnie Goeser; father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Dorothy Petrie; brothers and sisters-in-law: Francis (Ann) Petrie, James (Virginia) Petrie, Lucy (Eugene) Schwarz and Kathleen (Hugh) Goggins.

Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Parish, N369 Military Road, Sherwood, with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
