Jerry C. Vissers

  Jerry C. Vissers, age 73, of Freedom, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, August 16, 2018.  Jerry was born on March 19, 1945 son of the late Cornelius and Catherine (Chmela) Vissers.  He loved his work as an Operating Engineer with Calnin and Goss and was a proud member of Operating Engineer Local 139.  Jerry was also a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children, Todd and Bruce Vissers, Darla Schommer (Dale Dausey), Dana (Jeff) Burkhart and Darin Dietz.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryli, Tara, Justin, Danielle, Derek, Kody and Kala, 4 great-grandchildren a brother-in-law, Jim (Louise) Alsteen, sister’s-in-law, Cleo Mayo and Judy Schmidt, cousins, aunts and uncles and his best buddy, Marshall.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and brother’s-in-law, Clem Alsteen and Francis Schmidt. 

  Visitation for Jerry will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave, Freedom.  There will be a sharing of memories at 4:00 p.m. followed by full Military Honors.
