Jeffrey M. Herb

Jeffrey Michael Herb passed away on Monday, April 29th, 2024 at the age of 66 years old.  Jeff was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin on July 13, 1957 to Barb and Jerry Herb.

Jeff loved his family and friends well.  He was always willing to help anyone and consistently thought of others before himself.  Jeff always let others know of his love for them, ending his phone calls and visits with “Love you.”  He put his trust in God our creator, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit.  The past several years, Jeff attended a weekly men’s Bible study at Christ the Rock where he continued to grow in his faith with some very loving brothers in Christ.

Jeff was an avid fisherman who also loved traveling, hiking, camping, and woodworking with his wife.  Jeff also enjoyed cooking and wood carving.  He was a passionate fan of Wisconsin sports teams (especially the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers).  In addition, he enjoyed participating in sports throughout his lifetime, including coaching.  Jeff was a good volleyball and tennis player and enjoyed rounds of golf.  He was always up for games of all sorts with family members.  

Jeff started working summers in the plant at Miller Electric and retired from there as a product manager, which took him to places throughout the world.  He developed many lifelong friendships at Miller.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his two children: Natalie (Luke) Kohtala and Brody (fiancée Kaitlynne) Herb; and stepson, Christopher (Rilee) Turke.  He is also survived by his parents, Barb and Jerry Herb; siblings: Lisa Herb, Cece McAlpin, Jacque (Bruce) Moriarty, and Eric (Debbie) Herb; grandchildren: Megan, Dylan, Lauren, Addie, and Elli; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A funeral service for Jeff will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2330 E. Calumet Street, Appleton, WI.  Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. followed by lunch. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
