Janice "Jan" (Sigl) Ziesemer

Janice M. Ziesemer, 84, passed away on April 4, 2026. She was born on April 5, 1941 to Herbert and Helen (Raymakers) Sigl in Freedom.  On June 16, 1962 Jan married Gary Ziesemer and they spent 63 years together.  Jan enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life she had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she met and enjoyed several trips and vacations with Gary throughout their marriage. Jan loved spending time at the cottage that she and Gary built from scratch where she would watch the birds and wildlife, go fishing, and laugh with family and friends while sitting around the fire pit. Most importantly Jan was a mom and grandma, worrying about the welfare of her family was her highest form of love.

Jan is survived by her husband Gary, four children; Greg Ziesemer (Karen Sanderfoot), Lynn (Greg) Stingle, Brad (Kathy) Ziesemer, and Jill Ziesemer, grandchildren; Ryan Stingle, Megan (Jake Siggelkow) Stingle, almost-Doctor Cassie Ziesemer (fiancée Ryan Arnoldi), and Josh Ziesemer, siblings-in-law; Doris Ziesemer, Bill Ziesemer (Mary Voelker), Karen (Jim) Schweiner, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Lucille (Gordon) Vandenberg, Jerry (Verna) Sigl, Betty Sigl, her twin James who died as an infant, and sisters-in-law Arlene Mennen and Diane Ziesemer.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the healthcare providers who worked with us over the past few years, specifically Dr. Shinkunas, Kristine Twomey, and, more recently, the caregivers at Country Villa Freedom and the staff of Moments Hospice (especially Bryce, RN) for their guidance and compassion.
