Janet Lakso Obituary

Janet M. Lakso

It is with profound sadness we announce the death of our loving mother, Janet M. Lakso, on April 11, 2019.  She was 76 and lived in Kaukauna for most of her life.  Mom passed away peacefully, with family by her side.  She was being cared for at Brewster Village in Appleton. She was born in Stambaugh, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Elva (Newberg) Dombroski.  She graduated from Stambaugh High School, and married her high school sweetheart, whom she met in Kindergarten, Eugene Lakso, shortly after graduation.  At the time of Dad’s passing, they had shared 46 years of happiness together. It is comforting to know that they are together again.

Mom was devoted to her children, and a devoted grandmother, which brought her great pride. She spoke of her grandchildren all the time. She loved to cook and bake, and never arrived at neighborhood campfires without bringing a yummy dessert from her kitchen. Often, dinners out went quickly so as not to miss those campfires with her neighbors and friends.  After Dad’s passing, Sassy, her adorable Cairn Terrier and companion, brought her great comfort.  Mom loved her so.  She belonged to the Wild Wacky Widows, and enjoyed many gatherings with various groups and close friends, whom she cherished.  She was also active in the Kaukauna Lionesses, and loved her charity involvement, especially delivering roses to friends.

Mom will be sadly missed by her daughter Carrie (John) Kluge of Kimberly, her son, Darin (Christine) Lakso of Peachtree Corners, GA; and grandchildren, Connor (special friend Ashley Rossman) Kluge, Hunter Kluge, and Rachel Lakso. She is further survived by nieces Kimberly (Ronald) Wanink and children Jennifer and Melissa, Dana (Dale) Galka and children Josh and Max, and her nephew, Steve DeCloux.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her sister Deanna Lane.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at Noon on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home (formerly the Boettcher Funeral Home), 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna.  For online condolences, please visit: www.verkuilenfh.com

A very special thank you to Deb Kiley, our mom’s dear friend, for being with us on this journey. We would not have been able to get through this without your strength, hugs, love and prayers.  To Deb and Rich Langel and Bob and Eileen VanCamp, how do we even begin to say thank you for all the love, care and friendship you provided our mom. We are truly thankful. We have so many friends to thank for being there for us as well as mom; simply “thank you”

We would also like to thank Katie, Debbie and the staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital Fremont fourth floor for the love and care you gave our mother.  We need to thank the caregivers of Brewster Village who loved our mother as their own and treated her with the dignity she so deserved.  Lastly, thank you to the angels of Hospice who give strength and support to family members as well as the loved one.  You are very, very special.

When you speak of her – Author Unknown

“When you speak of her,
speak not with tears,
for thoughts of her should not be sad.
Let memories of the times you shared
give you comfort,
for her life was rich
because of you”
