James L. Kappell

James L. “Jim” Kappell, age 72, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at his home on February 27, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1953, son of the late Lawrence and Valita (Guyette) Kappell. He married Dawn DuFrane on July 17, 1981.

Jim worked at Kimberly Clark for 30 years as a millwright before his retirement. He enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona and being outside as often as he could. He loved to work in the garden and was very handy, he could make or fix just about anything.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dawn; sons: James (Jen) Kappell, Cody (Nicole) Kappell and Jesse Kappell; grandchildren: Daman, Avanna and Orion; siblings: Rae (Jim) Charles, Paul (Kristi) Kappell, Alyce Buchinger and Anne (Thys) Coetzee; brothers and sisters-in-law: Valerie (Dan) Fredericks, Gary (Elaine) DuFrane, Debbie (Larry) Gerrits, Paul (Robin) DuFrane, Leah (Mike) Hoks, Hazen (Judy) DuFrane, Tracy DuFrane and Linda DuFrane; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Valita Kappell; siblings: Catherine Kappell Bauer, Jane Kramer and Thomas Kappell; father and mother-in-law, Ruben and Aileen DuFrane; brothers and sisters-in-law: James DuFrane, Gregg DuFrane, Robin Munes, and Barb DuFrane.
