Gladys J. (Vaubel) Hietpas

June 25, 1930 ~ March 14, 2023 (age 92) 92 Years Old

With both sadness and celebration of a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Gladys J. (Vaubel) Hietpas. Her amazing soul peacefully ascended to Heaven surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the age of 92 at the St. Paul Assisted Living Villa in Kaukauna. She was born Gladys Josephine Lamers in Little Chute, WI on June 25, 1930 to the late Ted and Minnie (Wildenberg) Lamers. Gladys was married for 35 years to Donald F. Vaubel and blessed with three daughters and one son. Donald preceded her in death. Twelve years later, she married Mark G. Hietpas, and they recently celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Gladys was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. Faith, family and friends were the cornerstones of her life.  Her deep Catholic faith was very important to her, and she was a member of St. John’s Church for a great part of her life.  Some of her favorite pastimes were playing cards, cribbage and scrabble, rooting for the Packers, and traveling.  Gladys will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, support, generosity and positivity will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She is survived by her devoted husband Mark; her children: Nancy (Mike) Jacobson, Karen (Dan) Heyerdahl, Tom (Bethann) Vaubel, and Jane (Dave) Moreau; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Mark's children: Phil Hietpas, Barb (Jerry) Meulemans, Karen Hietpas and friend Chuck, Kelly (Andy) Hietpas, Sandy (Mark) Diedrich, Sally (Rick) Stoeger, and Kevin (Dawn) Hietpas; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; her sister Bev (Chuck) Goodman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Marian, Myrt, Pat, Rose and her brother Bob.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
