Germaine T. Schumacher, 95, Little Chute, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, March 13, 2020. Germaine was born July 28, 1924 in Little Chute, daughter of Theodore and Sophia (Hietpas) Huiting.
She attended St. John Grade School. At 15 years old she went to work at Manderfield's bakery.
On September 10, 1947 Germaine was united in marriage to Harold Schumacher, her husband of 63 years at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church.
In her lifetime she was actively involved in her church, being a founding member of the St. John Mission Club as well as being involved with other parish ministries. She was a part of the 4-H organization on both the local (Rainbow 4-H Cub) and county level (Outagamie County Fair).
Germaine enjoyed sewing (and taught many), crocheting, playing Farkel (the game became a family staple at every get together) going for rides, but most of all she loved life and the people around her.
ALWAYS ready with a hug and a smile.
Germaine is survived by two daughters: Joan (Gene) VanderZanden, Kaukauna and Barb Hietpas, Oklahoma City; four grandsons Greg (Jodi) Hietpas and Glenn (Shanon) Hietpas, Oklahoma City, James (Rebecca) VanderZanden, Madison and Daniel (Kari) VanderZanden, Milwaukee; seven great grandchildren: Gage, Karly, Cecelia, Julianna, Elliott, Whitney and Wyatt; step-grandchild David Lowney and step-grandchildren Allison and Abby. Also survived by her sister Marianne Parker and brother and sisters-in-law James (Donna) Schumacher, Marion Schumacher, Florus Schumacher, Leona Schumcher and Catherine Schumacher; extended family Gary and Judy Schumacher as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends
In addition to her parents, Germaine was preceded in death by her husband Harold (passed away June 14, 2011); two brothers; Ted Jr (Muriel) and Paul; in-laws Peter (Betty) Schumacher, Raymond Schumacher, Clarence (Tess) Schumacher, Joseph (Mary) Schumacher, Mildred (Robert) Huss, Maurice Schumacher, Rita(Ken) Hoffman, Gene (Eleanor) Schumacher. Marv Schumacher, and John Schumacher; four nephews: John, Steve, Carl and Reggie and one niece Ann.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Father Ron Belitz officiating. Interment will be immediately after the service in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Because of concerns with the Coronavirus there will not be a public viewing.
