Gerald "Jerry" E. Verhagen

Gerald “Jerry” E. Verhagen, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.  Jerry was born on July 25, 1936 to John and Marie (Manning) Verhagen.  On May 2, 1959 he was united in marriage to Rosella VandenHogen and they celebrated 66 years together.  He worked for Miller Electric for many years and in his retirement drove school bus for Lamers.  Jerry volunteered at St. Joe’s Food Pantry and Lutheran Social Services.  He enjoyed sitting outside on the deck in the fresh air and camping.  Jerry loved to play cards with family and friends.  Most important to him was his family and he would light up every time he saw his great grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Rosella, four children; Brenda Krause, Jean (Peter) Mandel, David (Debbie) Verhagen, and Deb Dreier, 8 grandchildren; Kortney (Adam) Vandenbogart, Kory (Jorgiann) Krause, Zachary (Leah) Mandel, Olivia Mandel, Ashley Derks, Alex Verhagen, Joshua (Nicole) Dreier, Jessica (Branden) Gott, great grandchildren; Braylie, Kallen, Brynn, Kennedy, Addyson, Amelia, Ava, Kayson, Jovee, Harvey, Xavier, Brayden, Brycen, Bella, Ashton and Zander, a brother Tom Verhagen, sisters-in-law; Anne McKitrick, Fran Auden, Bernie (Flo) Vanden Hogen, Patty Kuntsman and Rev. Msgr. Jim VandenHogen, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Bonnie Van Asten and Bill Verhagen. 

The funeral mass for Jerry will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks with Msgr Jim VandenHogen officiating.  A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the mass at church.  For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.  The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Moments Hospice and Country Villa for everything they have done.
