Gerald "Jerry" Beattie Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Beattie 84 of Village of Harrison died Friday, October 3, 2025, of complications caused by aspiration pneumonia.  He was born March 28,1941 to Vernon A. Beattie and Mary C. (Watry) Beattie in Little Chute Wisconsin.

Jerry married Carol DeBruin in 1962. Carol is the mother of their three children. Jeffrey, Daniel, and Karen. When that marriage ended, he married Lynn Driessen in 1978. After Lynn's death, Jerry married Catherine Bruss-Swanton in 2006. A production called Heavens Gates and Hells Flames brought him to a saving relationship with his Savior, Jesus Christ. His favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 33:3, "Call upon Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” He called this God's personal phone number.

Jerry was proud to have served his country in the US Marine Corps. Other jobs he held were:  Fox River Paper, Owner/operator of a semi truck, and Voith Paper.  During layoff times, he drove for Kobussen Bus. He loved the kids on his routes and treasured the memories when he was the driver for the Kimberly Girls Basketball team and the summer he drove the Lutheran Vanguard Drum and Bugle around during competition. Jerry attended Fox Valley Technical College where he earned his Journeyman Millwright degree.

His children fondly remember their many camping outings. He had a great love for all animals and the outdoors. Jerry was quick to come up with quips and will be remembered for all the "Jerryism” words he came up with. He was a very capable man and used his talents to build his own home.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Catherine Beattie, his 3 children, Jeffrey Beattie, Daniel (Margery) Beattie, Karen Beattie; his grandchildren, Jeremiah (Tasha) Beattie, Ashley (Michael) Beattie-Lokken; 3 great grandchildren Jantzen, Levias, and Ezlo Beattie. Also surviving him are step-children Milo (Lisa) Swanton, David Swanton, and Joshua Swanton; step-grandchildren Rachel Swanton, Jane Swanton, Amy Swanton, Josephine Swanton, and Caroline Swanton.  Siblings, Joan LaFond, Noreen Mrotek and sister-in-law. Nathalie Beattie; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his first wife, Carol Farah.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vernon A. and Mary C. Beattie. Brothers and sisters Jean (Carl) Johnson, infant Allen Beattie, Yvonne (Douglas) Ackley, Royal (Nathalie) Beattie, Ronald (Mary Ann) Beattie, Mary Ellen (Daniel) Sanders, Patricia (LeRoy) Massey, and infant Karen Beattie
