Gary George Weyenberg age 68, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at his home in Appleton from natural causes.
Gary was born July 10, 1957 in Green Bay, the son of Robert and Florus (Arnoldussen) Weyenberg. He had 3 children, who he was very proud of. Some of his greatest times in his life were those spent with his children and grandchildren. Gary was a country music fan and spent many years enjoying Country USA. Carew Concrete was lucky to have him as a lifelong, hardworking employee, working as a truck driver and mechanic. He retired in 2023, which gave him more time to hike and be outdoors. Gary spent many days working toward his goal of hiking the entire Ice Age Trail. He did not succeed in completing the entire trail, but his daughter Alicia will take it from here in hopes of kayaking with his kayak and walking the trail herself.
Gary is survived by his three children: Nicole (Paul) Keckhaver, Kyle (Katie) Weyenberg, and Alicia Rieth; his grandchildren: Carter, Kaden, Corbin, and Kinsley Keckhaver, Alex, Emmett, and Grace Weyenberg, and John Rieth. He is further survived by his father, Robert Weyenberg and five sisters: Marilyn (Gary) Brockman, Bev (Neil) VerVoort, Nancy (Mike) Heindl, Peggy (John) Huss, and Vicki (Dan) Verhasselt. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florus Weyenberg.
As Reba McEntire’s song, “The Greatest Man I Never Knew” relates, Gary was a man of very few words, but his children always knew he loved them.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by a short service lead by his sister Vicki, at the Verkuilen - Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave, Freedom. To honor Gary’s way of life, jeans are very fitting, as well as cowboy hats if it fits your personality.
