Gary Van De Leygraaf Obituary

Gary J. Van De Leygraaf, age 55, of Little Chute, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a snowmobile accident on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born on April 10, 1962, son of Carol (Hopfensperger) Howen and the late Bob Van De Leygraaf. On May 24, 1985, Gary married Lisa Sonderegger, and together they have shared a wonderful 33 years marriage. They were true soulmates. The love they had for one another was never ending, and they held hands each night before falling asleep.

Gary was a true family man, doing everything he could for his wife and children. He was a great dad. Many memories were made hunting with Tyler and fishing with Katelyn. He taught them many good values, including honesty, good work ethic and always have a little fun.

Gary was very proud of the work he did as a maintenance man for Fox Valley Technical College. He took a lot of pride in his work, his yard, and his family. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, nature, spending time up north, EAA, his motorcycle, corvette and snowmobile. His unique sense of humor will be truly missed.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Van De Leygraaf; his children: Tyler (Kalli Gloudemans) Van De Leygraaf and Katelyn Van De Leygraaf; mother, Carol Howen; siblings: Rob (Sue) Van De Leygraaf, Keith (Missy) Van De Leygraaf and Julie Dake; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gordy (Barb) Sonderegger, Paul (Tess) Sonderegger, Dan (Linda) Sonderegger, Bruce (Brenda) Sonderegger, Becky Jaekel; nieces and nephews: Nicole, Ryan and Lance Van De Leygraaf, Kent and Ethan Van De Leygraaf, Justin Weyenberg, Steven Dake, James and Stephan Sonderegger, Michael Sonderegger, Amy (Dave) Walburn, Jenny (Jerry) Palmer, Amanda (Steve) Marks; step mother, Caryl Rollo; aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends both at home and up north.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Bob Van De Leygraaf; a brother, Steve Van De Leygraaf; mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Robert Sonderegger; a step brother, Robert Jaeckel.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, February 16, 2018, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Ave., Kaukauna, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Kaukauna.
