Gary John Schumacher, age 75, passed away on April 23, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1950, in Appleton, Wisconsin, a city he considered his lifelong home.
Gary spent most of his career at Thilmany Paper Mill in Kaukauna, WI, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking employee until his retirement. He formed many lifelong friendships there. His commitment and steady presence were respected by those who worked alongside him.
Those who knew Gary will remember him as a generous, kind, and enjoyable person to be around. He had a welcoming nature and a gift for easy companionship. Gary loved playing poker and valued the friendships formed around the table. Later in life, he found joy on the golf course, appreciating both the game and the camaraderie that came with it.
Gary was the son of Pete and Betty Schumacher. He is survived by his sister, Judy Schumacher; and his beloved godchildren: Jeff Schumacher, Danny VanderZanden, and Mavrie Johnson, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He is further survived by other special people including: aunts: Katie Schumacher and Leona Schumacher, Sharon and Pete Sullivan, Camie Johnson, Craig and John Sullivan, Gene and Joan VanderZanden.
Gary’s legacy is one of quiet generosity, genuine kindness, and lasting connections. He will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral Mass for Gary will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute.
