Ethelyn Mae Horn “Pooch,” age 95 of Little Chute passed away April 1st, 2025 with family by her side. Ethelyn was born June 24th, 1929 to William and Anna (Wegner) Kobs in Appleton, Wisconsin. She worked for Scolding Locks before she married. She then owned and operated Horn Precast for 35 years. Pooch married Joseph A. Horn on April 3rd, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Appleton. Together, they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing on June 18th, 2010.
Pooch enjoyed many trips to the cottage on Lee Lake, where she would never turn down an opportunity to go out fishing. She loved reading romance novels, trips to the casino, and watching polka with her daughter, Putts. Pooch treasured her bingo nights with her sister, Gen. She was an avid Brewers fan, loved watching Survivor and many game shows, and she made an awesome chili. She never forgot a birthday announcement on WIXX radio station and always made sure the family had Christmas gifts.
Ethelyn is survived by her 7 children: William (Debra) Horn, Ronald Horn, David (Karen) Horn, Richard (Karen) Horn, “Putts” (Josh) Brockman, Mary Collins (special friend Doug), and Joseph “Gus” Horn (special friend Patty). She is survived by her brother, Darwin (Clara) Kobs. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Melissa Horn (Adam VanderVelden), Melanie Horn, Kimberly (Kevin) Kluba, Anthony Horn, Suzy Horn, Adam Horn (special friend Angie), Kelly Horn, Ryan (Amanda) Huss, Cory (Deena) Huss, David Brockman, Ben Brockman, Scott Collins (special friend Nikki), Kelsey (Ryan) Burrows, Marie Horn (special friend Tim), Michael Horn, and Joseph (Klaudia) Horn. She is further survived by her great grandchildren: Mallory, Miranda, Meredith, Jordan, Arabella, Hailey, Natalie, Morgan, Isaac, Logan, Rexton, Greta, Maggie, Kyle, Hayden, Madelyn, Cameron, Grayson, Harlyn, and Violet. She is also survived by special friend, Carol Umentum, and her precious cats: Molly, Lou, George, and Lil.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Joseph Horn, daughter Marie Horn, her mother and father William and Anna Kobs, stepfather Albert Kobs, mother and father-in-law Joseph and Leona Horn, sister-in-law Grace Horn, brothers Lloyd (Dorothy) Kobs, Gilbert Kobs, Marvel (Dora) Kobs, sister Genevieve “Gen” (George) Hermes, daughter-in-law Nancy Horn, son-in-law Patrick Collins, grandson Kyle “Chipper” Huss, and great grandson Ryder Huss. She was also preceded in death by her best friend, Lil Pasek.
The funeral mass for Ethelyn will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St., Little Chute.
