Elmer Van Dyke

Elmer "Moe" Van Dyke, age 79, passed away peacefully at Peabody Manor, surrounded by his loving family on November 4, 2023. Elmer was born September 6, 1944, son of the late Ben and Hattie Van Dyke. He married Judy Vandehey on November 9, 1967.

Moe will be remembered for his lifetime as a meat cutter. If you wanted to know about steak, or a cut of meat, Moe was your guy! Dad finished out his career as the Building Engineer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton and also worked at the Kimberly Post Office for over 20 years.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather “Papa” who was a great teacher to all. He enjoyed working on cars, car rides looking for deer and turkeys, watching softball at Sunset Park, racing at WIR, and of course wrestling. You didn’t dare call or stop when wrestling was on TV!

Survivors include his two children: Jeff (Terri) and Jon (Tara) and grandchildren, Logan and Emmaline; brothers: Marvin Van Dyke and Dan (Barb) Van Dyke; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; daughter, Jenny; father and mother-in-law, Glen and Marian Vandehey; sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Roy Grissman and sister-in-law, Kathy Van Dyke.

The funeral Mass for Elmer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Elmer’s name is being established.
