Elizabeth "Betty" A (Matchett) McDaniel

Elizabeth A. McDaniel, 90, or (Betty as she was known to many), finished her work here on Monday, March 18, 2024.  Betty received an offer she couldn’t refuse and an assignment from which she will not be returning.  Her new position comes with a huge bonus and a reunion with family and friends reuniting her with her husband who went before her to “check it out.” Betty started her journey on February 23, 1934 bringing joy to Edward and Helen (McGuire) Matchett in Kaukauna.  On May 21, 1955 she was joined by James McDaniel on this ride and they shared 68 years traveling down the road of life.  Betty spent many years working in retail for Martens – Lee Store and then at Gables-Kings Variety store.  She had an active role in her church where she helped with religious education program, an usher and communion distributor, on office volunteer and helped with funeral luncheons.  Betty was a past president of American Legion Auxiliary #41 and VFW Auxiliary #3319 of Kaukauna. 

Betty will be remembered best by those that traveled with her on this journey, her children: Jamie, Chuck (Cammie), Sara (Mike), Dennis (Susann) and Brendon (Jeanne); son-in-law, Roger (Elaine);  grandchildren: Dan (Ginger), Liz (Tyler), Stephanie (Kris), Mickala, Megan (Dijon), Marissa (Andy), Max (Quinn), Bailey (Megan), Brynn, Ahleah and Nakitah (Steve); great grandchildren: Morgan, Lydia, Brooklyn, Addison, Jameson, Landen and Kiera; great-great granddaughter, Everleigh; her siblings: Pat Arnoldussen and Jim Matchett; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Betty was reunited with her husband, parents; daughters: Mary and Maureen; grandsons: Roger and Patrick; daughter-in-law Beth; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jerry Arnoldussen, Pok Sun Machett, Vic, Mary, Joan, Margaret, Jane, Howard; father and mother-in-law: Gordon and Elvira McDaniel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish-St. Mary Site, 119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Betty’s name.
