Donald Evers Obituary

Donald P. Evers, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 28, 2023.  Don was born on October 29, 1936 in Little Chute to John H. and Wilhelmina H. (Hietpas) Evers.  Don was united in marriage to Elaine H. Gerrits on May 13, 1961 at St. John Nepomucene church in Little Chute where he was a lifelong member.  She preceded him in death on April 28, 2006.  Together they raised four children.

Don worked at Kimberly-Clark Corporation Lakeview mill for 41 years as a team leader until his retirement in 1996.

He was part of the American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute for over 20 years which he served on the Executive board and was also very involved in the honor guard as a flag folder. He served in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri from 1957 to 1959.  He was a huge sports fan including Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers.  He was a very avid Packer fan and was a season ticket holder since 1961.  He only missed 5 home games during all of those years.  Don and Elaine enjoyed traveling with Jim and Vern Welch to several (away) Packer games.

He loved working outdoors, casino trips and going out to eat at his favorite places on Friday and Saturday nights. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family.   Don cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren rarely missing an event.  His newest joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Don is survived by his four children: Laurie (Greg) Hammen, Lisa (Patrick) Tschimperle, Terry (Kelly) Evers, and Kim (Dale) Reynebeau; grandchildren: Andy (special friend Keisha), Rick (Dani), and Brian (Kelsey) Hammen; Ashley (Eric) Halek, Taylor (Haley) and Troy (Melissa) Solberg, Collin and Abby (special friend Trey) Evers; and Paige (Nate) Bevers; great-grandchildren, Elaine “Lanie” Halek and Bria Solberg, with Baby Halek an Baby Hammen on the way; brothers and sisters in law:  Adriana Evers, Celeste Evers, Ronald Beattie, Roger Gerrits, and Vernadine Welch; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife Elaine, Don was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, John and Geraldine Gerrits; brothers and sisters:  Edward (Viola) Evers, Henry Evers, Raymond (Adelle) Evers, Delia (Martin) Joosten, George Evers, Anthony (Lorayne) Evers, Sebastian (Margaret) Evers, Catherine (Raymond) Brockman, Gordon (Rosalie) Evers,  and Mary Ann Beattie; brothers and sisters in law:  Robert (Mildred) Gerrits, Germaine (Jerome) Werner, Donald (Lillian) Gerrits, Eugene (Lois) Gerrits, Clarice (Frank) Islinger, Audrey (Earl) Van Handel, James Welch, Darlene (LeRoy) Romenesko; step mother-in-law:  Loretta Gerrits.
