Our beloved mother, Dolores Liesch, earned her angel wings on March 22, 2026 at the age of 94. She passed away in her sleep at her daughter and son-in-law’s home. As much as we mourn the loss of our mother, we also celebrate that she was granted her wish to go home to her Lord and Savior and be reunited with those who went before her, which was our dad as well as her parents and all of her brothers, sisters and in-laws. She was the very last one in her family to be called home.
Mom was born on October 9, 1931, to Martin and Mary (Lamers) Jansen, the youngest of 13 children. Although she left school at a young age to help her sister care for her first child when her husband was called to war, she was a very intelligent woman. She was also very hard-working. Her love language was service, to her Lord as well as to others.
Mom was united in marriage to our dad, Vernon Liesch, on May 14, 1952. They spent 54 years together before Dad’s passing on July 4, 2006. Mom was a not a person to spend time sitting and was always busy doing something, usually for her family. She was an expert seamstress and made a lot of her children’s clothing when they were growing up. She even made wedding dresses for her daughter and daughter-in-law, and baptismal gowns and outfits for her grandchildren.
Mom was a very faith-filled woman and spent many hours praying the rosary. Our whole family knew that if we needed prayers for a specific reason, we could count on her to light a candle and pray for whatever we needed. We all knew her direct connection to God was very strong.
Mom is survived by her six children: Linda (Tom) Munes, Nick (Kathy) Liesch, Larry (Kathy) Liesch, Lori (Jody) Hietpas, Kim (Dave) Romenesko and Kay (Mark) Hietpas as well as 18 grandchildren: Greg (fiancée Jen Vande Voort) Vosters, Jay (Marie-Claude) Vosters, Stacy (Aaron) Schmitt, Julie (Justin) Meulemans, Travis (Amanda) Rogers, Dylan Rogers, Hannah Liesch, Emily (Adam) Verbruggen, Amy (Jon) Strick, Chelsea (Adam) Vande Hey, Katie (Joe Kopnick) Romenesko, Nick (Beth) Romenesko, Melani (Austin) Krueger, Cody Hietpas, Zack (Emily) Hietpas, Alex (Sierra Trojan) Hietpas, Marki (fiancé Seth Mayrer) Hietpas, and Kyra (special friend Una Fortier) Hietpas. She also leaves behind 30 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was preceded in death by our dad, Vernon, her parents, Dad’s parent’s Nic and Viola Liesch, her siblings and their spouses: Adriana LeNoble, John (Lorraine) Jansen, Norbert (Laverne) Jansen, Vincent (Grace) Jansen, Agnes (Chuck) Moeri, Ursula (Joe) Dollevoet, Joe (Alvina) Jansen, Gertrude (Gordon) Marquardt, Anthony (Leatrice) Jansen, Al (Carol) Jansen, Martin (Sue) Jansen and Gerald Jansen, and Dad’s siblings and their spouses: Donald (Esther) Liesch, Yvonne (John) Burrows and Merrill “Butch” Liesch.

We would also like to thank Kim and Dave for taking Mom into their home for her last months on earth and taking such wonderful care of her. It is appreciated more than you will ever know!
Well done, my good and faithful servant.
