Dolores Kobs Obituary

Dolores (Lorrie) Ann (Hengel) Kobs, age 79, passed away on December 31, 2020. Lorrie was born on March 21, 1941 in Kimberly, WI to Lloyd and Ann (Kriescher) Hengel.

She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1959. Afterwhich, she was employed as an executive keypunch operator for Kimberly Clark in Neenah. In 1963, she married David Kobs and they bought their house on Sidney Street. During their 23 year marriage, she was a dedicated homemaker and mother to their four children. In 1986, she re-entered the workforce and spent a couple years at Catherine’s Boutique before switching to the jewelry department at Shopko in Kimberly where she worked for 13 years before retiring. She moved to Brewster Village at the end of 2019 due to health issues.

Lorrie was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and devoted attendee to Saturday mass. She enjoyed playing the tenor saxophone in the Kimberly Community Band for 55 years. In her younger years, she also enjoyed playing pool, cards, darts, and bowling. Lorrie was an excellent bowler; making it to the State Finals 7 years in a row, earning  “600’s Club” patches multiple years, and bowling a perfect 300 once. Her favorite pastime was to read a good mystery novel. She’d leave the Kimberly Library with as many books as her arms could carry and be back the next week for more.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Lloyd and Ann Hengel and her ex-husband; David Kobs.

She is survived by her children and (grandchildren): Terri (Kobs) Gravitt & fiance’ Chris Paape (Bryce Fontecchio, Lillie & Sidney Paape), John & Cheryl Kobs (Tyler & Travis), Vicki (Kobs) & Doug Tessen (Kayla, Raechel, & Jared), and Brian Kobs (Alex); her brothers and sister-in-law: John & Becky Hengel and David Hengel; niece: Julie (Hengel) & Marty Rehfeldt (Claire & Bridget), and nephews: Joe & Nicole Hengel (Brooke & Landon Hengel), and Bob & Wendy Hengel (Silvia).

The family appreciates the excellent care provided to Lorrie over the past year by the staffs of Brewster Village (especially Pam and Keith, aka John Patrick), Compassus Hospice, and St. Elizabeth Hospital. Her last year was made more enjoyable and comfortable because of your patience and kindness.

Visitation will be held at HOLY SPIRIT CHURCH, 620 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a full mass to follow at 4:00 PM. Considering the pandemic, masks would be appreciated and social distancing will be practiced.
