Dolores Diedrick Obituary

Dolores L. Diedrick, age 94, of Freedom, passed away peacefully from this life and into the arms of Jesus with her family by her side on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.  She was born on August 13th, 1927, to the late William and Bertha (Heidemann) Hoelzel.

On August 29, 1949, Dolores married Ernest Diedrick at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. They farmed in the town of Freedom for 17 years and raised 6 children.  They enjoyed 43 years of marriage until Ernie’s death in 1992.

Dolores’ life revolved around her family, and she would do anything for any one of them.  She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed visits from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The grandkids still talk about Grandma’s chocolate chip cookies that couldn’t be reproduced by anyone.

Dolores was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.  She volunteered for the school’s hot lunch program, funeral dinners, church picnics and bazaars along with helping with meals at the Homeless Shelter in Appleton.  She also was a past member of Christian Mothers Society.

Dolores and Ernie enjoyed traveling with family and friends.  Their adventures took them to many states including Alaska, Hawaii and a trip to the Caribbean. They also enjoyed going to their cabin in Fence, WI where many fond memories were made.

Dolores is survived by her children: Bruce (Elaine) Diedrick, Patty (Andy) Granberg and Donna Diedrick.  She is further survived by three grandchildren and their families: Jeff (Amy) Diedrick, (Payton and Connor), Christy (Jason) Presteen, (Abby, Cally and Blake) and Amanda (Jay) Springstroh (Mason, Alaina and Brody); a brother, Don Hoelzel; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hoelzel and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie; two daughters: Linda and Lois and a son, Bill. She was further preceded in death by her parents, William & Bertha Hoelzel; her father and mother-in-law, Peter and Lucy Diedrick; her siblings and in-laws: LaVerne (Otto) Boll, Dennis Hoelzel, and Pat Hoelzel; her husband’s family members: Viola (Ed) Evers, Bernice (Ray) Ver Voort, Joe (Evelyn) Diedrick and Lorraine (Don) Uitenbroek.

Dolores was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother who was dearly loved by her family. Our memories of the many special times that we shared will remain forever in our hearts. She lived for her family, and now her spirit lives on in them.
