Dixie Ann (Addie) Guthrie, 86, died peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023. Dixie was born on February 28, 1937 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She was raised in Wisconsin moving many times around the state with her parents until she graduated from high school in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She attended Whitewater State Teachers College (now a part of the University of Wisconsin) to become a commercial teacher. After one year of teaching, she elected to quit and got a job at Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Neenah, Wisconsin where she remained for 21 years, working first for the President of the company and later in the International Personnel Dept. which she very much enjoyed taking care of K-C’s international personnel from various countries.

She met the love of her life, Glenn Guthrie at Kimberly-Clark in 1976. They married on May 12, 1978 and enjoyed many years together traveling abroad and, in the U.S. In Appleton she was the president of her church council, St. Elizabeth hospital auxiliary, the ladies golf at High Cliff where she and Glenn lived, and also a condo complex association in Appleton when they moved there. She and Glenn moved to Asheville, NC in 1995.

She was a member and volunteer at All Souls Episcopal Church, Biltmore Village; life-long member of her college sorority Theta Sigma Upsilon, Whitewater, Wisconsin; PEO Chapter AD at Asheville, and was the president of the Beaverdam Run Condo Assoc. in Asheville. She volunteered also while living at Givens Estates Retirement Community in Asheville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Benita Addie, her husband, Glenn Guthrie, three children, Karla, Paula and Douglas all of whom died at an early adult age, and her sister, Nancy Lee Addie Owens.

Surviving are her brother and his wife, Jerry and Ann Addie of Janesville, WI, their son Brian and his wife, Sophie and their children, Ruby and Jasper of California; son-in-law, Douglas Bricco, his wife Kristine and his daughter, Shanna Bricco and her three sons, Gabriel, Lukas and Jaxon; daughter-in-law, Cindy Biesterveld, her husband Benjie and her two daughters, Megan Stumbris and her husband, Andrew and their children, Avery and Ainsley, and Hayley Eldred and her husband Tyler all from the Appleton, WI area. Her sister, Nancy’s two children, Stacey and Scott Owens. Her step-sons and families: Steve (Dawn) of Fairfield, Ohio; Kevin (Pam) of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; Bruce of Silver Spring, Maryland; step-grandchildren Evann, Lauren, Mariah and Nathan; step-great grandchildren Zoe and Elena.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Dixie’s memory to the Given’s Estate Resident Assistance Ministry, 2360 Sweeten Creek Rd., Asheville, NC 28803 or the Salvation Army.
