Dennis D. Bayer, Combined Locks, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 following a courageous battle with CNS Brain Lymphoma. Dennis was born December 2, 1949 in Neenah, Wisconsin, son of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Bigalke) Bayer. Dennis spent the majority of his career in Human Resources. He spent 30 years as HR Director for Voith in Appleton before taking an early retirement. Since he decided he was not quite ready for retirement, he returned to the workforce and spent 6+ years working in Human Resources with the Menasha Joint School District.
Dennis always had a great sense of humor and boasted a big smile on his face. He was known for being a great party host who made great old fashions and mojitos! He enjoyed spending time at his cottage in Townsend and was a great tour guide on the booze cruises around Shay Lake. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and will be sadly missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Vicky (Nackers) Bayer, his three children: John (Anna) Bayer, Georgia, Michelle (Peter) Forsythe, Neenah, Laura (Geoff) Possley, Greenville; three step-children: Zack (Mara) Vanderloop, Kaukauna, Bryton Vanderloop, Hawaii and Lucas Vanderloop, Appleton; 9 grandchildren, 2 brothers Melvin (Ginny) Bayer, Florida, Gary (Nelly) Bayer, Peru; brothers & sisters in-laws: Karen Jackels, Black Creek, Dale Nackers, Appleton, Lois Ludwig (Cecil), Roy (Ann) Nackers, Greenville, Jim (Joan) Nackers, Combined Locks, Mark (Pat) Nackers, Darboy, Lisa (Dave) Rupiper, Freedom, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Margaret (Bigalke) Bayer, parents-in-laws, Victor and Loretta (Van Dera) Nackers, brothers-in-law, William Jackels, Joseph Ludwig, Daniel Nackers, and Michael Nackers.
The funeral liturgy for Dennis will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 5:00 PM at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 Pine St., Little Chute with Fr Ron Belitz officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 3:00 PM until the time of the mass at church. The family would like to thank Theda Care at Home Hospice staff for everything they have done.
