David H. Knapp, 74, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. David was born on December 21, 1948 to Alvin and Esther (Timmreck) Knapp in New London. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On September 11, 1969, David was united in marriage to Joyce Schanke. David graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with two degrees and he worked as a material handler at Pierce Manufacturing until his retirement in 2014. He was a movie aficionado and enjoyed music, art, and philosophy. David loved gardening, disc golfing, and making memories with his family. He adored his innumerable adventures to Jamaica with Joyce (Ya Mon!). He was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. He was also past Commander of American Legion Post #258. Always one for a sage word or joke, David can best be described as a spectacular storyteller. David was an immensely loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather (or Gampa, as he liked to be called) and he will be greatly missed by all.
David is survived by his wife, Joyce, children; Adam (Michelle) Knapp, Amber (Todd) Cellotti, and Aaron (Malissa) Knapp, grandchildren; Geena Knapp, Clara and Bennett Knapp, and step-grandson Colton Lee, brother Alan (Joann) Knapp, sisters-in-law; Vicki (Bob) Vosters, Deborah “Pinch” (David) Carney, Michele (Pete) Stumpf, and Marsha Schanke, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dixie (Louie) Klegin, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Regina Schanke, and brother-in-law Roger Schanke.
