He was a veteran having served in the US Army, Special Forces as a Green Beret.   On May 9, 1968, he was united in marriage to Nancy Heindel. At the age of 55 he retired due to health problems related to a semi-truck accident.  He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for his favorite Wisconsin teams. Go Pack Go!  Go Brew Crew!  Fear the Deer!  On Wisconsin! Go Wolves Go!  Spending time with family was most important to Dannie.  Special memories were made at the cottage where he enjoyed fishing and cleaning everyone’s catch! He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening and golfing.  His grandchildren found out what a pool shark he was as he taught them how to play pool.  He also loved card games, casinos and playing the machines when out to family dinners.  Dannie always had a story to share and if you didn’t know him when you met, you left him feeling like you’d known him forever.  He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  He was active in his Church, St. Katharine Drexel, both St Aloysius and St. Mary sites, volunteering at the church picnic grilling burgers and brats, teaching confirmation and marriage classes, singing in the choirs and being a communion distributor.  Dannie was a member of the Kimberly American Legion Post #60 for 23 years holding various positions, lastly serving as chaplain.
