Our beloved, caring, and strong brother, son, uncle, and friend, Curt Romenesko, age 53, left us on the morning of January 18, 2023, after his almost two-year battle against brain cancer. Curt was born on July 4, 1969, and raised in Little Chute, WI, by his father and mother, Dan and Gerry Romenesko. As the youngest of four, Curt learned to be tough, strong, and carefree. These characteristics were tested and proven when Curt became a quadriplegic at the young age of 22. Although a life-altering moment, Curt never lost his sense of adventure, quick wit, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit.
Curt’s independence never wavered either. He continued on to get his CPA at UW Green Bay and worked 20+ years at Spectrum as an accountant, business analyst, and Workforce management administrator. He built his own home in 2001 in Darboy, WI, living independently up until his passing.
Curt traveled the world following his favorite bands with his best friend, Brad Schuler; loved to attend and support Mile of Music; followed his nieces around the country to watch them play volleyball with his mom and dad; even carried the Olympic torch throughout New York City. Curt was full of life and compassion, he dedicated much of his time after his accident to the ThedaCare P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma to Youth) program speaking to youth in NE Wisconsin about how irresponsible behavior can change your life forever
Curt is loved by many and has taught all of us that you get to choose the life you live, so make it meaningful; live hard, laugh often, and never take life too seriously. He is an inspiration to all of us and his legacy will carry on forever. Curt will be forever missed by the many lives he touched, and we know he is in a better place having “just one more”.
Curt is survived by his brother, Scott (Gretchen) Romenesko and sisters Kim (Dave) Klund and Laurie (Mike) Jansen, as well as his 10 nieces and nephews. Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Gerry Romenesko (Little Chute, WI).
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek St, Little Chute, WI 54140. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
