Vandenbroek – Cornelia Coenen, age 97, passed away on January 5, 2024, with her family at her side. She was born on October 31, 1926, daughter of the late Antone and Maggie (Evers-Gloudeman) VerVoort.
Cornelia was united in marriage to Urban Coenen on May 3, 1945, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. In 1951, they purchased the farm that was owned and operated by the Coenen family since 1859. It was there that they raised their family and farmed until they retired in 1977. She enjoyed making and having homemade treats for her family along with bowling, playing cards and traveling.
Cornelia is survived by her children: Delores (Carl) Frelich, Ken (Cori) Coenen, Carl (Joan) Coenen, Irene (Bruce) George, Mark (Vicki) Coenen and Paul (Brenda) Coenen; sons-in-law: Nick (Gail) Brittnacher and Robert Fox; 27 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cornelia was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Urban Coenen; infant son, Merle; son, Earl (Katie) Coenen; daughters: Marlene Brittnacher and Diane Fox; parents, Antone and Maggie VerVoort; father and mother-in-law, John and Patronella Coenen; siblings: Peter (Ida) VerVoort, Harriet (Joeseph) Van Zeeland, Delia (William) Van Groll, Dora (Henry) Van Groll, John (Gladys) VerVoort, Henry (Mary) Gloudeman and Raymond (Bernice) VerVoort; in-laws: Lucy (Peter) Diedrick, Norbert (Loretta) Coenen, Clara (Stephen) Diedrick, Otto (Marie) Coenen, Mathilda (Louis) Konrad, Elmer (Verna) Coenen, Robert (Martha and Geraldine) Coenen and Barbara (William) Van Groll; and a special friend, Ves Vissers and members of his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 411 Vandenbroek Street, from 4:00 p.m. until the prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning, January 12, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
