Christopher "Kip" Gerrits Obituary

Kip Gerrits, age 72, passed away on June 7, 2026, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

A lifelong Wisconsin native, Kip had a varied professional career but his real passion was playing his guitar and singing professionally. His career of music began at the age of 14 and over his lifetime he performed in various bands, duos and in his later years as a solo act. While the majority of his work was in Wisconsin, he has also performed in Montana, Florida and many Caribbean resorts.

In addition to his love of music, Kip loved to travel. He loved hiking in National Parks, having been to over 30, his last two being in Alaska. His adventuresome spirit has taken him all across the country, whether hitchhiking in his youth, pulling his teardrop or most recently his Class B affectionally known as Gladys, he was always exploring.

Kip is survived by his daughter, Christen Bloor, St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Judy Gerrits; brothers: Bill (Deb) and TJ (Peggy) Gerrits; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Kip was preceded in death by his parents, William and Miriam Gerrits; brother, Robert Gerrits; and a nephew, Aaron Gerrits.

A memorial service will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 101 Canal Street, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A celebration will continue after the service at Hollanders, 1820 E. Main Street, Little Chute. Kip was a truly kind and generous man who saw the good in everyone and did his best to make everyone feel special.

He was so appreciative and grateful to the many friends and family for the support he received as he fought this awful disease. Special thanks to his cousin, Lynn McGinty, for her support, care and companionship throughout his illness. Also, Betsy Hermus and Emily Hietpas for their care and compassion. Lastly, Pat Hietpas for his friendship and unwavering support.
