Cheryl L. Johnson

Cheryl L. Johnson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born on July 16, 1950 to the late Norman and Marcella (Jensen) Sengbusch.

Cheryl married LeRoy Johnson on June 9, 1973 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kaukauna. Cheryl brought creativity, compassion, and dedication to every aspect of her life. A proud entrepreneur, she owned and operated Krafty Sew-N-Sew for many years. She also worked at Joann Fabrics, where her knowledge, warmth, and passion for crafting inspired countless others to explore their creative sides. Cheryl’s legacy extends far beyond her work. She was a devoted leader in the Girl Scouts, where her guidance and commitment impacted generations of young women. She made history as the first member in the valley to receive the God in Community Award, a testament to her unwavering dedication to service and faith.

Cheryl’s favorite color was purple-a perfect reflection of her vibrant spirit. She adored cats, trains, and fishing. Her talents knew no bounds; she was an expert in sewing, crochet, and gardening, always creating something beautiful with her hands and her heart. Cheryl will be remembered as a passionate, generous, and loving soul who lived her life with purpose, grace, and creativity.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, LeRoy Johnson; children: Benjamin Johnson, Amy (Richard) McGuinness, LeRoy “Tiger” Johnson II, and her adopted daughter, Karissa DeFord; her granddaughter, Mary McGuinness as well as her special grandchildren: Taylor Hietpas and Arianna DeFord. Cheryl is further survived by her siblings: Wayne Sengbusch, Wendy Yingling, and Scott Sengbusch Sr.; brother-in-law, David Johnson Sr.; and special close friend, Edie Dorro-Harris.

In addition to her parents, Cheryl is preceded in death by her brothers: Norman Jr. and Eugene Sengbusch.

A Funeral Service for Cheryl will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Ave., Kaukauna, WI 54130.
