Cheri Kay (Jansen) Vanden Heuvel passed away at Bellin Hospital on June 8, 2024. She battled cancer with faith and courage after a diagnosis in February of 2024. Cheri loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, shopping, decorating, celebrating holidays, and working with preschoolers.
Cheri was born in Carmel, California on September 7, 1963, to Jim and Gail (Jewett) Jansen. She was raised and grew up in Combined Locks, Wisconsin, and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1982. After high school, she graduated from McConnell Airlines school in Minneapolis, and worked with her father at Air Wisconsin before becoming a stay-at-home mom. After her own children were grown, she shared her passion for teaching and learning by serving as an aide at Kennedy Elementary School, supporting nursery programs at the YMCA and Christ the King Church, and leading PreK classes at the DePere Community Center.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Kevin; children Travis (Stacey), Michael (David), Ashley (Mike) Arndt; grandchildren Faith, Gavin, Grayson, Madison, Brooklyn; siblings Heidi (Tom) Gaugert, Ed (Christine) Jansen, Dan (Jennifer) Jansen; and many loving in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and long-time friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Friends and family are invited to pay respects on Thursday, June 13th from 2:00-4:00pm at Christ the King, 601 S Washington St, Combined Locks, WI 54113. A 4:00pm service will follow.
