Charles R. “Charlie” Mader, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 10, 2025.
Charlie was born on October 6, 1949 to Ralph and Marie Mader. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1967, Charlie proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He married the love of his life, Judy Engelhardt, on October 29, 1970.
He worked for many years at Brillion Iron Works, tended the family farm, and numerous other jobs. A dedicated husband and father of four, Charlie’s family was always his greatest pride.
Beyond his work and home life, Charlie gave back to his community as an active member of the Lions Club where he enjoyed friendship and service. He was an American Legion Post 496 member and supporter of the Harrison Athletic Association. Charlie was a well-known regular at his favorite local establishments, where his laughter, good stories, and sense of humor made him a friend to many.
Charlie is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Judy Mader; children: Howard (Sarah) Mader, Renae (Jim) Schramm, Doug (Cheryl) Mader and Conrad Mader; grandchildren: Jamz (Lindsey) Jones, Katina (Jack) Wolf, Sienna Mader, Colton Mader, Charlie Luniak, Casey Luniak, Sophie Mader, Hattie Mader, Ashton Mader, Parker Mader, Marcella Mader and Amellia Mader; 2 great grandchildren: Lily and Gram Jones; siblings: Ruth (Paul) Stumpf, Mike (Becky) Mader and Marie Zirbel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Karen Mader, Tom Stumpf, Clarence “Junior” Wolfinger, Carol Yokeum, Terry (Margaret) Engelhardt, Bonnie (Reed) Smith, John (Carla) Engelhardt, David (Nancy) Engelhardt and Jane (Todd) Frey; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie Mader; siblings: Ann Stumpf, Jim Mader, Dorothy Kempen and Barb Wolfinger; father and mother-in-law: Carlton and Katy Engelhardt; Godson, Jesse Engelhardt.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, N369 Military Road, Sherwood. Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Full military honors will be performed after the Mass.
