Catherine "Cathy" Johnson

Freedom – Catherine Jane Johnson, born October 30, 1999, tragically passed away as the result of a skiing accident in Bozeman, Montana. She was a student attending Montana State University. She was 21 years old and a beloved daughter of Greg and Kim (Lindahl) Johnson.

Cathy was a beautiful soul inside and out. She lived in the moment and chose to embrace everyone for who they were.  She was known to lighten any room with her warm and gentle smile, as well as fill any space with her quiet and joyful confidence.  Cathy appreciated the simplest gestures and brought joy to others through random acts of kindness. Cathy was a warm ray of sunshine that filled many hearts and she made every attempt to build a personal connection with anyone she encountered.  Cathy was always open to new adventures such as hiking, camping, snowboarding, or skiing with friends and family. She found ways to express herself through crafts, photography, ukulele, harmonica, and playing the guitar, especially for her family and friends. Cathy was a dream chaser who loved Montana and the mountains. She was always looking forward to seeing who she could bring to explore what was just beyond the next tree line, field of wildflowers or hot springs. Cathy’s kind and intrepid ability to give everyone a chance will continue to inspire all of us to be better children of God. We have received countless stories of how she inspired others to follow their passions, dreams, and appreciate all their God given gifts. If Cathy were to want one thing from all of us, it would be to never live in a rush and truly be grateful for all that God has given us. We like to say that Cathy lived life “Montana Happy and on Cathy Time”. God has brought her to the highest, most majestic mountain, and we know that she will be there to greet us with open arms and a smile when we will meet her again.

Cathy is survived by her parents, Greg and Kim Johnson; siblings: Anna (Mike) Torchia, Brady (Tarynn) Johnson, Thomas (fiancée, Madeline) Johnson and Gabby Johnson; nieces and nephews: Gianna, Michael, Henry, Gemma and Gabe Torchia; grandparents: Nadine Johnson, Daniel and Sharon Lindahl; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many great friends. Cathy was preceded in death by her grandpa, Lawrence Johnson and aunt, Jean Wyne.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home FREEDOM LOCATION, N3972 Columbia Ave., from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Covid guidelines will be followed.
