Carol Platten Obituary

Carol Jean (Warnecke) Platten, 91, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025 surrounded by her 6 loving daughters. Born on September 7, 1934 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, Carol was the daughter to the late William Warnecke and Mabel (Reed) Burnham.

Carol was a devoted and loving mother as well as a very proud grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was her number one priority. She was always working, yet able to find time to spend with her family and offer assistance to those in need. A wonderful cook, she enjoyed putting together menus for different meals and holiday celebrations to be enjoyed by all. She was loved for her unexpected yet humorous remarks while hosting those family gatherings, creating laughter and joy for those around her. Carol was also a proud member of the Oneida Nation.

Carol is survived by her daughters: Debbie Bartel, Diane (Bill) Diny, Dawn Marciniak, Denise (significant other Jon) Roskom, Dena (Jesse) Hietpas, and Darla (Todd) Jodar; grandchildren: Kaylee (Jason) Snell and Trevor Jodar; Luke (significant other Mea) and Dylan Hietpas; Melanie, Kyle, and Holly Roskom and their father Gene; Amber (fiancé Craig) Marciniak; Kevin (Danielle) and Steve (Holly) Diny; Amanda (Bryan) Cullen, Matt (Kayla) and Mike (Jenny) Bartel, Stacy (Max) Rath and their father, Larry; Miranda Propson, Louis (Melba) Beck; Daniel Beck and his children; great grandchildren: Hadley, Emily, Nicholas, Eric, Autumn, Ella, Riley, Gavin, Elijah, Asher, James, Sage, Walker, Ivy, Tate, and Leilani; siblings: Beverly Skinner and Bill (Mary) Warnecke; and sister-in-law, Leona Platten. Carol was deeply loved by her numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Gerry Burnham; husband, Vern Platten and his siblings; sister, Baby Warnecke; sons-in-law: Joe Marciniak and Dan Beck; and brother-in-law, Nelson Skinner.

A funeral service for Carol will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
