Bonnie Mae Fisch, 97, made a peaceful transition into heaven on Sunday, July 13, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones. Bonnie was born on May 4, 1928 to Joseph and Freda (Krablean) Lewandowski in Menasha. She married James Richard Fisch on April 16, 1955 and they raised 7 children.
Bonnie loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren. So much of her life was devoted to them and their life’s. She was very instrumental as a leader and advocate in the expansion of the Fox Cities Special Olympics Program and main stream education for children with Down Syndrome and other disabilities in the Appleton Area School District. These programs provided support, access, opportunity and community for special needs children and their families.
She loved to walk and be outside on nice days and take in the sunshine. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening. She was a homemaker with many talents, including upholstering many pieces of furniture, making quilts, lamp shades and curtains all to match. She also enjoyed doing water color painting.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Jane, JoAnn, Jeanne (Tom), Joe; daughter-in-law Rita (Jim); grandchildren: Beth, John, Maggie (Alex), Daniel (Amy), Katie (Troy), and Gabe. Great grandchildren Henry and Jansen. Sisters: Peggy, Jackie, Mert (Jerry), Debbie and brother Scott. Sister in-laws: Jane and Marlene and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband James Richard Fisch; children: infant daughter Jan Marie, Jon, Jenny and Jimmer. Sisters Joan and Sue and brothers Louie and Danny. Sister-in-laws: Joan, Mary, and Betty. Brother-in-laws Mario, Dick, Tom, Jerry, Mike and Bill.
The family is very grateful for the compassionate care mom received at Frontida Assisted Living, and a special thank you to Mayra, for your remarkable care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, you may want to consider making a donation to Fox Cities Special Olympics (through the parent organization SOAR via this link)
