Beverly "Bev" Schmidt Obituary
Beverly Ann Schmidt, age 88, died peacefully at Country Villa in Little Chute, WI, on Friday, May 22, 2026. She was born on February 11, 1938, the daughter of Albert Henry Wild and Christine Rose (Zimmerman) Wild in Antigo, WI. Bev graduated from Antigo High School in 1956 and then attended Langlade County Normal School.
On September 6, 1958, she married Elmer Lawrence Schmidt at St. Mary’s Church in Antigo, WI. They resided in Combined Locks until 1965, then owned a 40-acre farm on Route 2 in Appleton until 1969. In 1970, they purchased a 240-acre dairy in Bonduel, where they farmed for 28 years. After leaving farming, Bev worked for ten years in product testing at Kimberly-Clark and retired at age 70. She was an avid gardener who canned fruits and vegetables for her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, picking berries, and spending time outdoors. Bev and Elmer retired to homes in Sherwood and Luxemburg before moving to Country Villa in 2022.
Bev was grateful for the friendships with other residents at Country Villa. She felt particularly blessed to have found a kindred spirit in both Edna Zeitler and Judy Kazda, who were best friends.
Bev will be missed by those who survive her, including children: Janice (Greg) Ahlstrom, Eagan, MN; Mary Weisnicht, Seymour; Kevin Schmidt, Antigo; Keith Schmidt, Antigo; and Lisa Schmidt (Craig Perry), Neenah. Her fifteen grandchildren, Hans, Erik, Tucker, Daniel, Cody, Jacob, Abigail, Elizabeth, Sarah, Nora, Samuel, Ruth, Melissa, Dylan, and Emily; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her sisters: Donna (Jerry) Pietz, Birnamwood; Joan (Gary) Tatro, Phlox; Patricia Boehnlein, Antigo; stepbrothers Randy (Marie) Fleischman, Deerbrook; Robert Wild, Marshfield; Terrance Wild, Antigo; sisters-in-law Audrey (Roger) Meulemans, Kaukauna; Debbie (Harlin) Klinge, Kaukauna; Carol Wild, Appleton; brother-in-law Dennis (Julie) Schmidt, Appleton; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father: Albert Wild, mother: Chistine Wild, stepmother: Sophie Wild, husband: Elmer Schmidt, son: Floyd Schmidt, brother: Allen Wild, stepbrothers: Gary and Melvin Fleischman, father-in-law: Lawrence Schmidt, mother-in-law: Bertha Schmidt, son-in-law: Scott Weisnicht, brothers-in-law: Fred Schmidt, Carl Schmidt, Roger Bricco, Greg Boehnlein, sisters-in-law Regina Bricco and Marilyn Schmidt.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church 411 Vandenbroek Street, Little Chute, WI. Fr. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Visitation will be held at St John’s Church from 8:30 am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 am. Following mass, lunch will be served at the church. The burial will take place following lunch at the Holy Spirit Parish Cemetery in Kimberly.
