Bernice G. Ver Voort, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2019. She was born on September 5, 1929, daughter of the late Peter and Lucy (Coenen) Diedrick. Bernice grew up in Freedom. She met the love of her life, Raymond Ver Voort, and on September 28, 1949 they were married at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. Together they raised 4 beautiful children. Bernice loved to cook which led to working at AAL in the kitchen. She also worked at Golden Yolk in her younger years. But living on the farm and entertaining family and friends was her passion. She always opened her arms, heart, and home to celebrate life regardless of the occasion.
Bernice is survived by Ray, her husband of 70 years, and her children: Gary (Judy) Ver Voort, Lou Ann (Ken) Vosters, Neil (Bev) Ver Voort and Kevin (Missy) Ver Voort; grandchildren: Jim Ver Voort, Paul (Jill) Ver Voort, Mark (Katie) Ver Voort, Lori (Greg) Hansel, Jennie (Mark) Kraftzenk, Gayle (Jamie) Radmer, Brian (Krista) Vosters, Brad (Nikki) Ver Voort, Sara (Brad) Brezinski, Ashley Ver Voort, Halie (Cody) Rollin and Amber (special friend, Trevor) Ver Voort; 19 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Diedrick, Dolores Diedrick and Cornelia Coenen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her; parents, Peter and Lucy Diedrick; Ray’s parents, Anton and Margaret Ver Voort; siblings: Viola (Ed) Evers, Joe Diedrick, Ernie Diedrick and Lorraine (Don) Uitenbroek; in-laws: Hank (Mary) Gloudemans, Pete (Ida) Ver Voort, Harriet (Joe) Van Zeeland, Dora (Hank) Van Groll, John (Gladys) Ver Voort, Urban Coenen and Delia (William) Van Groll.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home Little Chute location, 101 Canal Street, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, November 8, 2019, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S.
