Bernice Martha Kerkhoff, age 80, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She was born on April 26, 1941, daughter of the late Ed and Martha (Bader) Corey. She married the love of her life, Ken Kerkhoff on April 15, 1961. Bernice worked for Roskom Meats for many years. She was a great cook and enjoyed going out for an old fashion. Bernice liked going out on the pontoon, riding the horses with her family, cooking and Christmas was her favorite holiday as all of her family was there. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Ken Kerkhoff, five children; Denise (John) Bast, Tina (Dan) Sabel, Kent (special friend Kari Werner) Kerkhoff, Penny (special friend Phil Gomm) Rohm, James (Dawn) Kerkhoff, 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, a sister Arlene (Leonard) Mauel, brothers-in-law; Mark (Cindy) Kerkhoff, Dennis (Luanne) Kerkhoff, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, two children; Kent Lee and John Mark, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorothy and Mark Kerkhoff, her siblings; Harold (Marjorie) Corey, Don (Barb) Corey and Jim Corey, and brothers-in-law; Dale Kerkhoff and Jack Kerkhoff.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Verkuilen- Van Deurzen Funeral Home, FREEDOM LOCATION, N3972 Colombia Ave. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for St. Jude’s in Bernice’s name.
