Audrey M. (Platten) Tierney

Audrey M. Tierney “Lucky Audrey “, age 80, peacefully went home to Jesus on November 3, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 28, 1942, to the late John and Emma (Schunk) Platten in Isaar WI. After graduation Audrey worked at Fort Howard Paper Mill. She then met the love of her life Bob “Rock”, they were married on July 3, 1965. Audrey had 3 children and she loved taking on the role of home maker. As her children grew up, she went back to the work force. She enjoyed working at Tierney’s cleaners, owned by her sister-in-law. After she retired, she went back into homemaker mode taking care of her 4 grandchildren. Audrey was Sassy, and full of life, and energy. She had a deep love for the lord, and she was a prayer warrior. In her spare time, she liked sewing, needle point, and puttering in the yard. Her most favorite times were when she was surrounded by family, especially her grand kids. Bon fires and fireworks were a must! 

Survivors include daughters: Tammy (Greg) Sampson and Patricia Tierney; grandchildren: Tyler Schroeder, Angie Tierney, Jackie Moderson, and Ben Moderson; great-grandchildren: Carson and Morgan; siblings: Richard (Barbra) Tierney; sisters-in-law: Eva Biering, Vicky Tierney, Leona and Carol Platten; brother-in-law: Mike Buss, and many nieces and nephews. 

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tierney, son: Timothy Tierney, parents; brothers Norman, Vernon, Eugene, Jack (Diane) Platten; sisters Virginia (Donald) Zobel, Florence Platten, Frances (Bill) Woodke, Geneva Streblow, Alice Bogenschutz; sister-in-law Linda Buss; brothers-in-law: John (Janice), Thomas, Dennis (Grace), Terrance Tierney; nieces and nephews: Jerry Zobel, John Bogenschutz, Jill Woodke and Sandy Platten; great-great-nephew: Dominic. 

The memorial service for Audrey will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Verkuilen Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr.  A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
