Arthur D. “Art” Look passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 9, 2025, after enjoying 96 full and remarkable years.
Born in Kaukauna on March 18, 1929, to Arthur C. and Lorraine Look, Art lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and dedication to his family. He married Dorothy (Peg) Minten on August 29, 1953, and raised 5 children together. After Peg’s passing in 2001, he met and married Marianne Lechler. They recently celebrated 20 years together.
A proud military veteran and American Legion member, Art later became a master carpenter, known for his craftsmanship and skill in building furniture and cabinetry. He found great joy in his daily swims at the YMCA — a routine he kept faithfully, even in the days before his passing. He was also a voracious reader, visiting the local library regularly. He particularly enjoyed mysteries.
Art devoted countless hours to volunteering with organizations such as Loaves and Fishes and Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore. When he wasn’t serving others, he could often be found on the lake, fishing, telling stories and sharing moments with family and friends.
Art is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Marianne Lechler; his children, Karen (Pat) Rutten, Deb (Paul) Verhagen, Jeff (Annette) Look, Mary Beth Look (special friend, Scott McGuire ), and Lisa Hurst; his sisters Elaine (Ed) Radtke and Carol Snider; his stepchildren: Michael Haanen (special friend, Ann Galley), Shelley (Dr. John) Synder, Julie Haanen Gerow, Mary Fink, Thomas (Carrie) Haanen, Karen Seiler and Krista Haanen. He is also cherished by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry his love and wisdom forward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Peg Look; his brother, Kenneth Look, son-in-law, Pat Hurst, stepdaughter Catherine Haanen and stepson David Haanen.
