Roger O. Lowney, age 82, of Appleton, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Roger was born on October 4, 1934 in Bear Creek, son of the late John and Nora (Sullivan) Lowney. He married Mary Popeck on July 16, 1960 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville and they have been married for 57 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was employed with AT&T for 33 years. Roger enjoyed traveling with Mary, doing crossword puzzles and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and always enjoyed a good joke!
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his children: Dale Lowney, Shari (Mike) Konkol, Terri (Rob) Casper, and Tim (Sheri) Lowney. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chris Lowney, Travis (Jess) Novotny, Trisha (Ishy) Trejo, Jayme (Aaron) Henson, Samantha (Matt) Peters, Stephanie (Chris) Van Dyke, Bo Casper (fiance’ Kayla Hofacker); his great-grandchildren: Trinity, Tahlia, Jordin, Westin, Emma, Ari, Wyatt and Bennett; his sisters-in-law: Irene and Barb Lowney, and Rosie Popeck and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Peter and Agnes Popeck, his brothers: Bob and Warren and his sister, Pat (Jim) Murphy.
Funeral services for Roger will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. FREMONT STREET, APPLETON, with Father Jon Thorsen officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. For online condolences please visit www.verkuilenfh.com.
