Robert D. Van Airsdale, age 91, of Wild Rose passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veteren’s Home in King. Robert was born on April 6, 1926 in Saxeville, WI., son of the late Glen and Sudie (Ashley) Van Airsdale. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving from 1944-1946. Bob worked as a switchman for the Northwestern Railroad for 42 years, and was also a school bus driver for Kobussen Busses in Neenah for many years. Bob lived in Menasha for many years before moving to Wild Rose. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, nature and being in the outdoors. He was also a longtime member of Wild Rose VFW Post 5902.
Bob is survived by his children: Mike (Sue) Van Airsdale, Mary Lepinski, and Paul (Joy) Van Airsdale; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Sandra (William) Fahrenkrug, and Sharon Grunska; sisters-in law: Eunice Van Airsdale, Verla Jones, and Jan Van Airsdale; a daughter-in-law, Diane Murphy; a special cousin, Jean (Larson) Haufe and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy: two sons: Patrick and Robbie; a grandson, Brian Van Airsdale, a son-in-law, Jerry “Sam” Lepinski; three brothers: Gerald, Jack, and Hugh Van Airsdale; and a brother-in-law, Robert Grunska.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at MAPLE CREST FUNERAL HOME, N2620 Hwy 22, Waupaca. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
