Kenneth Vanden Heuvel Obituary

Kenneth John Vanden Heuvel, age 85, of Little Chute, now safe in the arms of Jesus and reunited once again with his loving wife Anne on August 7, 2018. He was surrounded by his family.

Kenneth was born on August 5, 1933 in Little Chute, son of Peter and Dora (Hietpas) Vanden Heuvel. Kenneth married Anne C. Verhagen, January 25, 1956 at St. John Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Little Chute Police & Fire Commission and he served on the Outagamie County Board for 31 years. Ken faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Ken began his career with August Winter & Sons where he perfected his trade. He became an expert sheet metal tradesman and then went on to work in sales. Years later, along with his oldest son Pete and a nephew Bob he formed a successful mechanical contracting business, Great Lakes Mechanical where he worked until his retirement in 1993. In his free time Ken enjoyed reading, fishing, woodworking, and pontooning at Legend Lake. Maybe you caught his wave and his infectious smile as he enjoyed his daily walks around Little Chute or perhaps you were lucky enough to receive one of his handmade crafts. Ken was also an avid Packer and Brewer fan. But above all else Ken was a faithful Christian man. His biggest achievement in life was his family. His six children, his seventeen grandchildren, and his twenty-six great grandchildren were his legacy. His marker for success was simply their happiness.

Kenneth is survived by his three daughters: Lori (James) Hietpas, Little Chute; Beth (Ron) Benzschawel, Greenleaf; Katy (Mark) Gloudemans, Little Chute; three sons: Peter (Ann) Vanden Heuvel, Little Chute, Patrick (Sherry) Vanden Heuvel, Appleton, Mark (Clare) Vanden Heuvel, Oshkosh; 17 grandchildren: Kara (Steven), Kristin (Andrew), Kevin (Stephanie), Steve (Abby), Ryan (Melissa), Alex Kenneth (Siraya), Brynn (Scott), Adam (Amber), Kelly (Troy), Samuel (Elissa), Emily (Robbie), Joshua, Amos (Kelsea), Luke, Olivia, Grace and John; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters: Delores Machurick, Donna (Bob) Welch and Barb (Mike) Kons; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jane Vanden Heuvel, Jane (Joe) Janssen and Ken Schnese; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Anne; grandson, Isaac Vanden Heuvel; brothers: Lloyd, Clarence (Urs), Jerome (Noreen), Gene and Paul (Laverne) Vanden Heuvel; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mike Machurick, Tom (Jan) Verhagen and Betty Schnese; father and mother-in-law: Peter and Elizabeth Verhagen.
