Joan T. Van Dyke

Joan T. Van Dyke, age 92, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Home on Thursday, May 16th, 2019 with her family by her side.  Joan was born August 20, 1926 daughter of the late John and Marie (Ashauer) Berghuis.  She graduated from Kaukauna High School and then graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a Bachelor’s degree in Education.  Joan taught at St. Francis Catholic School in Hollandtown for a time and then at Holy Cross Catholic School in Kaukauna for many years.  She married William Van Dyke on February 1st 1947 and they celebrated 46 years of marriage before he passed away on April 8th, 1993.  Joan was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed watching any sports her children or grandchildren were involved in.  

She is survived by her children, Patricia Hanby, Carol Van Dyke, John (Jeannie) Van Dyke, Mary (Rodney) Eissens and Susan (Marty) Radermacher; her grandchildren, Tom (Sheila) Hanby, Ben Gasdorf, Dana (Larry) Holschuh, Tim Van Dyke, Robert (Jackie) Van Dyke, Abbey (Tim) Kletzien, Ashley (Jake) Horst, Alex (Emily) Eissens and Erica Radermacher; her great-grandchildren, Cody Hanby,  Khairee Gasdorf, Hunter, Kirianna and Lincoln Holschuh, Ari and Elise Horst and Amelia and Adam Eissens.  She is also survived by her brothers, Jack Berghuis, and Tom (Terri) Berghuis, her sister, Betty (David) Hahn and a sister-in-law, RoseMarie Van Dyke.  Joan was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters and 1 brother and 2 brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.

A funeral mass to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish St. Mary Church, 119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna.  Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass.  Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
