Jeffrey Daniel Van Camp
Jeff “Chief” Van Camp, age 52, of Freedom, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born on April 21, 1965, son of Floyd and Joanne (Daul) Van Camp. Jeff married Sally Marquardt on February 2, 1991, and together have shared almost 27 years of marriage.
Jeff graduated from Xavier High School, class of 1983. After high school, he co-founded VANCO Construction Inc. and currently serves as the Vice President. Jeff was known to fix, make, or “MacGyver” anything. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his cottage in Townsend. As the host of deer hunting camp, he loved the camaraderie and enjoyed being the cook, making his famous meatloaf. Faith was extremely important to Jeff and he was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Most of all, Jeff loved spending time with his family, especially with his children. He was very proud of all their accomplishments, and the love he had for them was immeasurable.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Sally; children: Cameron Lou, 17, Courteney Jo, 14, and Coleton Jeffrey, 11; parents; Floyd and Joanne Van Camp; siblings: Liesa Van Camp, Lori (Dave) Bradish, and Jay (Becky) Van Camp; mother-in-law, Lucille Marquardt; brother-in-law, Tom (Ruth) Marquardt; nieces and nephews: Nick and Natalie Bradish, Collin, Emelia and Anna Van Camp, Andrew, Jonathon and Zachery Marquardt; and many other family members and special friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Clifford Marquardt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Ave., Freedom, from 3:30 p.m. until the vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, W2037 County Road S, Freedom, from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass at 12:00 noon. Fr. Walter Stumpf will officiate, assisted by Deacon Gary Vanness. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
